 Today Daniel Baird has declared that just like in ancient times we should make a sacrifice to the gods. Good things will be promised to us and that just like in ancient times, we will only see the good things after we die. Our god shall be the paper shredder and our sacrifice shall be a shreddable item...
The shredder god has power says Dan, he knows this because it has a light that says that has power.

Drive failure or smoke alarm |

At 4.30am this morning I had a hard drive failure and awoke to the sound of an alarm. At first I thought it was a smoke alarm and so I got out of bed at the speed of light. As there is no console attached to my server I could not immediately deactivate the alarm without cutting the power, so that’s what I did.
Although I haven’t checked yet, I suspect it is my TV recording drive which gets pretty hammered. It is full most of the time and is defragged each night I think. In case you don’t know, defragging a near full drive thrashes it.
There will be no service held for the drive, however there will be an autopsy. The drive has kindly donated it’s organs (magnets) to our work white board.

 Why do people think that microwaves can dry clothing? Maybe it’s TV that give people these ideas like the Seinfeld episode where Kramer heats his clothes up in the oven so that they feel warm when he puts them on.
Last night I was sitting at my desk doing work while my flat mate Rob was getting ready to go to the casino. I wasn’t paying too much attention to what he was doing, well, he was in the kitchen for a bit, in the laundry, upstairs showering and while he was up there I heard loud arcing from the kitchen. It took me a couple of seconds to realize that the noise was the unattended microwave having a fit while Rob was having a shower. |
